Ocean College is one of the characteristic colleges in Shandong University at Weihai. Ocean College has authority to grant doctoral degrees in marine biology, microbiology and master's degree in marine biology, zoology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry and applied chemistry. The college has research programmes,such as the national natural science foundation of China, Key project 973, international cooperattion, etc. and many projects are carrying out with the local government.

Marine Biology
This major has authority to grant doctoral and master’s degrees, and focusing mainly on endangered animals, especially marine mammals, such as bowhead whale, finless porpoise, ringed seal, spotted seal, etc. Main studies include gross anatomy and histology of the animals, genetics, ecology, small population biology, and conservation biology of endangered species.
